FACES THAT WILL GRACE THE AFRO FASHION SHOW IRELAND 9TH MARCH  2014
DESIGNER MAIYA" HOUSE OF MAIYA" FACE OF {AFSI 2014}

This letter is to inform you of a young designer from Ireland who is making a bit of a noise on the International Fashion scene. I have included her bio and all of the links to her work below.

Maiya needs sponsorship to make it to the finals representing Ireland in the finals in Paris, so we would hope you will take the time to check our her links below and read her bio, and get behind this young, hard working, focused young Irish girl who is doing so much in such a short time, and is making Ireland Proud.

Maiya is ten.year old  designer. Maiya has always wanted to be a fashion designer and model. Maiya entered her very first fashion show in June 2013 and took part in A2 little kingdom show which she won wearing one of her own designs. Her second show was on 31st August this year where she participated as the youngest designer and showcased her very first collection for adults. In this collection Maiya used fabric from given to her by her African and Irish Grandparents and created designs  which combined both cultures. It was at this show that Maiya made an impression with one judge Pat Walker from Vintage Vogue describing her designs as absolutely amazing. She impressed so much that flawless magazine featured her in this months issue. Maiya is a hard working talented and focused young designer and model and already in a very short time her future looks bright. She has already been selected as finalist in the World Finals of Face of the Globe in Paris as a model wearing her own designs.  This event is a fundraiser for the rainbow child foundation. She has also been asked to take part as a designer in Miss Ethnic Ireland which is also a fundraiser for raising awareness about female genital mutilation.  Maiya has also been asked to be The Face of Afro Fashion Ireland 2014 which is run by The  African Diaspora cent-re.  Her first collection will  travel to Italy this week to be showcased in a fashion show which is specifically for showcasing Irish talent on 28th of this month.  In November she has also been invited to go to Switzerland to take part in a talk show about her designs. It is definitely full steam ahead for this young Irish girl.
You can sponsor Maiya by clicking on the link for face of the globe, and look in the finalists section under Maiya Mc Monagle. There you will find a selection of sponsorship packages.

As a woman I "Model to Real Women" Beauty is in you. International Women's Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women's Day is a "National Holiday".
Adire is the name given to indigo dyed cloth produced by Yoruba women of south western Nigeria using a variety of resist dye techniques. Adire translates as tie and dye, and the earliest cloths were probably simple tied designs on locally-woven hand-spun cotton cloth much like those still produced in Mali. In the early decades of the twentieth century however, the new access to large quantities of imported shirting material made possible by the spread of European textile merchants in certain Yoruba towns, notably Abeokuta, enabled women dyers to become both artists and entrepreneurs in a booming new medium. New techniques of resist dyeing were developed, most notably the practice of hand-painting designs on the cloth with a cassava starch paste prior to dyeing. This was known as adire eleko. Alongside these a new style was soon developed that speed-ed up decoration by using metal stencils cut from the sheets of tin that lined tea-chests. Another method was to use sewn raffia, sometimes in combination with tied sections, while other cloths were simply folded repeatedly and tied or stitched in place. The basic shape of the cloth is that of two pieces of shirting material stitched together to create a women's wrapper cloth. Most of the designs were named, and popular designs included the jubilee pattern, (first produced for the jubilee of George V and Queen Ma
8th of March is International Women's Day, a day marked by women groups around the world. The day is rooted in the centuries-old struggle of women to participate in society on an equal footing with men. The idea of an International Women's Day first arose at the very beginning of the 1900s.

But in Lithuania the 8th of March is not at all characterized by women's struggle for emancipation and equality, or any sort of fighting against violence and abuse. Believe it or not, but here you will experience no single parade, no placates with demanding lines for equal rights, or any stirring speeches from women's rights activists.

The Soviet leaders were probably very anxious that the Women's Day could turn into a demonstration against the system and the many elderly, grey haired men at the top of the Kremlin. These men's smart move was to instead make the 8th of March a feast day, something in between Mother's Day and St. Valentine’s Day.

So, even today, two decades after the Soviet collapse, the 8th of March in Lithuania is the day when women receive presents, flowers, poems, text messages and lots of kind words and wishes from their men or lovers. While the 8th of March over the rest of the world makes the important point that this is a day for equality and justice between the genders, this is in Lithuania a day of romance and sweet music – a day when people celebrate more the difference than the equality between the genders.

At the "Little Kingdom Show" was my first contact with this beautiful girl and being an African am always proud when I see talent.  Maiya is a ten year old African-Irish girl. Since a very young age she has wanted to be a Fashion Designer and Model at 10 she is doing that. Maiya entered her very first fashion show in June 2013 and took part in A2 "Little Kingdom Show which she won wearing one of her own designs. Her second show was on 31st August this year where she participated as the youngest designer and showcase her very first collection for adults. In this collection Maiya used fabric from given to her by her African and Irish Grandparents and created designs which combined both cultures which i called "Afro-Irish"

It was at this show that Maiya made an impression with one judge {vintage vogue} describing her designs as absolutely amazing. She impressed so much that flawless magazine featured her in this months issue. Maiya is a young working talented and focused young designer and model which within a very short time her future looks bright. She will take part in Miss Ethnic Ireland as a designer and has just been made the Face of Afro Fashion Ireland 2014 as well as being a world finalist at "The Face of the Globe World Finals in Paris" later this year. This event is also a fundraiser for child of the rainbow foundation. She will travel to Italy with other designers to showcase Irish Fashion and has been invites to Switzerland to take part in a talk show as well as being featured in Africa-world Newspaper as Pride of Africa in September Edition.

It is definitely full stream ahead for this young Afro-Irish young up coming talent and as the Chief Host of Afro Fashion Show Ireland and the CEO of Afro in Diaspora Center I will follow her every step of the way.

Kudos HOUSE OF MAIYA branded label.
